Funeral Ceremonies

Nothing quite prepares you for the death of a loved one and it can feel overwhelming trying to organise their funeral while you are in the early stages of deep grief.

Rest assured that your funeral directors will guide you through the arrangements with thoughtfulness and care, and by choosing an independent celebrant like me you will be in safe hands to guide you through the ceremony creation process.

I can create a funeral,  memorial or a celebration of life ceremony depending on what you feel is appropriate for your loved one.

How I would work with you
Beth MacLeod Celebrant, a woman with short ginger hair, wearing an emerald green dress standing in a garden
  • I would meet, in person, with you and other close family, chosen family or friends to learn all about your loved one and help you make decisions about the type of ceremony you want to hold for them.

  • Following our meeting I would write up a ceremony outline for you to agree and help you decide on any readings, music or other ideas to celebrate their life.

  • I then collate everyone’s contributions and write the full ceremony for you to approve.  I can include blessings, hymns or prayers if you wish, or keep it religion free.

  • On the day I ensure everyone participating knows what to do, and I hold a safe space for you to grieve and honour your loved one, while delivering the ceremony with warmth and kindness. I will also cover anyone that finds they aren’t able to speak on the day.

  • Throughout the process I am available by email or phone to answer any questions and help you as much as you need. I also liaise with your Funeral Director on all aspects of the ceremony so you don’t have to worry about the details.

Beth created an oasis of calm for us.
We trusted her implicitly with all things to do with the ceremony.
